Nella notte tra il 16 e il 17 ottobre si è tenuta la cerimonia di queste attese premiazioni: scopriamo assieme i vincitori dei BET Hip Hop Awards 2018.
Cypher, esibizioni, una miriade di esponenti del rap game statunitense e consegna dei premi fanno di questo evento uno dei più attesi dell’anno. Condotta dall’attore e stand-up comico DeRay Davis e tenutasi al Miami Beach Convention Center, la cerimonia ha fatto parlare anche quest’anno, sebbene i vincitori dei BET Hip Hop Awards 2018 non hanno portato eccessive sorprese.
A trionfare, come quasi sempre succede, sono i rapper ovviamente più in voga e lo si poteva già intuire dalle nomination svelate ad inizio settembre con Drake a condurre con ben undici nomine, seguito da Cardi B a quota dieci. Non sono stati da meno, tuttavia, Childish Gambino (6), Travis Scott e Kendrick Lamar (5) e Jay-Z (4), ma bando alla ciance, scopriamo assieme chi ha trionfato quest’anno.

Come anticipato prima, tuttavia, non ci sono solo i vincitori dei BET Hip Hop Awards 2018 a far parlare, bensì anche gli attesi cypher, ossia quelle performance dove – per fare un esempio – un anno fa Eminem attaccò senza peli sulla lingua il presidente degli Stati Uniti d’America, Donald J. Trump.
Anzi, a dir il vero di questi cypher se ne parlava da diversi giorni, soprattutto per il preannunciato diss di Vic Mensa al compianto XXXTentacion. Ecco, così è stato. Nel corso della sua esibizione il rapper di We Could Be Free, sopra una strumentale messa su da Dj Premier, ha detto:
“Only time you bear arms is in a wife beater, loser
Your favorite rapper’s a domestic abuser”
Parole forti le sue, che hanno subito fatto il giro dei media. Essendoci di mezzo un artista da poco scomparso – e con un passato ricco di problemi – preferiamo non schierarci né da una parte né dall’altra, tuttavia è sicuramente da sottolineare il coraggio di Vic Mensa di aver affermato questa sua presa di posizione davanti a milioni di telespettatori.
Oltre a Mensa – e i compagni di cypher G Herbo, Taylor Benett e Nick Grant – ci sono stati altri giovani esponenti della scena americana che hanno provato a fare del loro meglio in questa importante vetrina dei BET Hip Hop Cyphers 2018.
