Come vi abbiamo raccontato QUI, l’artista londinese ha acquisito notorietà lo scorso anno grazie al remix di Peng Black Girls in collaborazione con Jorja Smith. A questo hanno fatto seguito altre ottime tracce, confluite poi nel suo EP di debutto.

Hi Enny! First off, thank you so much for giving us this opportunity. What would you like to say to introduce yourself to the italian public? «Pronto! (The only Italian I know) My name is Enny and I’m an artist from London.»
Ciao Enny! Anzitutto, grazie per darci questa opportunità. Cosa vorresti dire per presentarti al pubblico italiano?
«Pronto! L’unica parola italiana che conosco. Il mio nome è Enny e sono un’artista da Londra.»
I know that you did a “normal” job before getting into a fully-fledged musical career. What gave you the confidence to quit that job and pursue your dream?
«It started with a feeling and slot of internal preparation. Affirmations reading books prayer and trusting myself.»
So che facevi un lavoro “normale” prima di dedicarti ad una carriera musicale a tutti gli effetti. Cosa ti ha dato la fiducia di mollare quel lavoro e inseguire il tuo sogno?
«Il tutto è iniziato con una sensazione e un momento di preparazione interiore. La conferma è arrivata con la lettura di libri di preghiera e fidandomi di me stessa.»
Talking about your biggest inspirations, we know that you are a big fan of J Cole. Are there other rap artists that you look up to? Any big names you would like to work with?
«Lauryn Hill, Nas, Kano, Lioness to name a few. Not any I can think off the top off my head but I’m open to wherever music may lead me.»
Parlando delle tue principali ispirazioni, sappiamo che sei una grande fan di J. Cole. Ci sono altri rapper ai quali fai riferimento? Qualche grande nome con il quale ti piacerebbe lavorare?
«Lauryn Hill, Nas, Kano, Lioness per nominarne alcuni. Nessuno che mi venga in mente in particolare, ma sono aperta a prendere qualunque direzione verso la quale la musica mi condurrà.»
Let’s talk about Peng Black Girls, the single that made you famous. Did you expect the reception that the song received?
«Haha I’m definitely not famous… I didn’t expect that response it was truly a blessing to see.»
Parliamo di Peng Black Girls, il singolo che ti ha reso famosa. Ti aspettavi l’accoglienza che la canzone ha ricevuto?
«Haha non sono affatto famosa… Non mi aspettavo quell’accoglienza ed è stata una vera benedizione.»
Jorja Smith joined you to create a dope remix of the song. What did working and performing live with her teach you?
«It just showed me it’s really about music it all starts from the music. The stories you tell really lead you places.»
Jorja Smith ti ha dato man forte per creare un ottimo remix della traccia. Cosa ti hanno insegnato il lavorare e l’esibirti insieme a lei?
«Mi ha semplicemente mostrato che tutto ciò riguarda la musica, parte tutto dalla musica. Le storie che racconti ti conducono poi in varie direzioni.»
Under 25, your debut EP, is finally available everywhere. What are the stories you wanted to tell us with it?
«I wanted to tell my story my coming of age moments. To be truly transparent about where I was in a period of my life.»
Under 25, il tuo EP di debutto, è finalmente disponibile ovunque. Quali sono le storie che volevi raccontarci con questo progetto?
«Volevo raccontare la mia storia, i miei momenti di crescita. Volevo essere completamente trasparente in merito a dove mi trovavo in un periodo della mia vita.»
Talking a little bit about the recording process of the EP, how did you approach its creation? Did you start from an idea, from a particular song or what else?
«The EP started from the song Under 25 off the EP: that song started this whole journey. After that song I wanted to document that process of change.»
Parlando del processo di registrazione dell’EP, come ti sei approcciata alla sua creazione? Sei partita da un’idea, da una canzone in particolare o che altro?
«L’EP è nato dalla title track, quella canzone ha dato il via all’intero percorso. Dopo quella canzone, volevo documentare il mio processo di crescita.»
Are you planning to tour across Europe anytime soon? I would like to see you perform live here in Italy.
«If Covid and Brexit permits I would definitely love to!»
Stai pianificando un tour europeo? Vorrei vederti esibire qui in Italia!
«Se il COVID e la Brexit lo permettono, lo farò sicuramente!»
Last question: what do you have in store for your fans in the following months?
«More music more shows!!»

«Più musica, più spettacoli!»
